How we verify a mattress

We buy a unit at retail, anonymously, from the same line you would. Nothing is sent to us by the factory for testing. Here is exactly what happens to it.

   Anonymous retail purchase

   We buy the unit from a factory outlet or agent like any customer, and we keep the receipt on file with the verification record.

2. 02
   Dimensional check

   Thickness measured at five points under no load, compared against the listed figure and the tolerance in the supply agreement.

3. 03
   Density by cut sample

   A 10×10×10 cm cube is cut from the core, weighed on a calibrated scale, and converted to kg/m³. That number is the one we publish.

4. 04
   Construction teardown

   Layers, spring count and edge reinforcement are photographed and counted, because "reinforced edge" means five different things across five factories.

5. 05
   Publish, including failures

   Result, method, date and evidence go on the product page. A material shortfall suspends the listing rather than quietly adjusting the number.

When a measurement comes in more than 10% below the claim, the listing is suspended the same day and the manufacturer has 14 days to respond. Two products have been delisted this year. We publish both.
